My Ethos

I am an experienced educator; with 25 years of experience in schools, pupil referral units, SEN schools, and alternative provision as well as 10 years of experience providing tuition and chaperoning for BBC, Crossroads Live, Disney and Film. I am ideally placed to work with your young cast.

I understand the importance of good habits when it comes to education. That’s why I always believe in doing what's right for the young person. Wellbeing is at the centre of everything I do for young people. After all, how can we expect a young person to perform if they're stressed or unhappy?

I pride myself on delivering the best quality education for young people, to ensure that they keep pace with their peers in school. Frequently the child actors I have worked with have progressed beyond expectations. I work closely with schools and parents to ensure that educational progress is maintained and transition back to school is as seamless as possible.

I work flexibly to fit around the needs of the demands on set and work closely with 2nd ADs, production departments and chaperones.

SAFEGUARDING

I provide a safe and secure environment for your cast. Recent feedback was that "Thanks for making a safe space Mark, where we can learn and share our feelings. We know you are always looking out for us".

Spending more time with young people than anyone else, I am often first for hear of their worries and will flag these to the appropriate people as well as chaperones.
Safeguarding concerns are acted upon as per production guidelines in a timely and professional manner.

Partnerships

I see tutoring as a mentoring process, with the understanding that clear communication and personal connection are just as important to  success as is access to proper learning materials. I empower students to take responsibility for their learning, developing important life skills as well as academic skills.

I work closely with schools and parents to ensure that work provided is suitable and that educational progress is maintained.

I build excellent relationships with the AD team and Production Department to aid planning and ensure compliance with licensing conditions.

Further Experience

I am proud to have been invited by CPSH to be involved in the latest 10 x 10 from PACT. Aimed at their members, covering the journey children will take between casting brief to wrap.  Everyone took their given specialism and between us created a total of 100 incredibly informative tips. I delivered 10 tips "Preparing for a Local Authority Inspection"

We felt this was a great opportunity to showcase that chaperoning is not a babysitting service, by displaying how well everyone understands this important role with huge responsibilities, the DfE child performance regulations and the production process.

It was an honour to be amongst such knowledgeable and experienced professional Chaperones and Tutors.
